Becoming A Poly Rep

 

Applying for POLY REPS

Our application for the 2025-2026 school year is opening this fall! 

If you are interested in becoming a Poly Rep this upcoming year, please fill out this interest list. 

The process begins with submitting an online written application. A limited number of applicants will be invited to in-person interviews with the executive board and advisors. This process will begin in September, with interviews taking place in November and early January. 

Info Sessions:

We strongly encourage you to attend a Poly Reps application info session to learn more about our organization, and to ask any questions you may have with a current Poly Rep! Our dates will be announced soon. 

Poly Reps Educational Requirements, Qualifying Experience, and Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units.  All Admissions and Recruitment student employees must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at Cal Poly. 
Provide at least two campus tours per month, or more if available. Each tour typically lasts for 90 minutes and involves guiding a group of visitors around Cal Poly’s campus while public speaking. Tours are typically offered by Poly Reps Monday through Fridays, from 10:15 am – 11:45 am and 2:15 pm – 3:45 pm (excluding campus holidays).   
Poly Reps give tours for the entirety of the academic school year, excluding holidays and campus closures. It is expected to be available to give campus tours September through June and August through May once Cal Poly begins as a semester school). 
Participate in occasional outreach and recruitment activities including but not limited to: panels, school visits, presentations, tours, and/or special events. 
Serve as a positive role model for all visiting students and community members. 
Guide visiting students and supporters around campus during a variety of tours and events. 
Provide quality customer service and support to all visitors and community members. 
Adhere to all Cal Poly Admissions & Recruitment departmental policies and procedures.
Value diversity, equity and inclusion and practice these values through actions. 
Awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and experiences. 
Must be graduating from Cal Poly no earlier than Spring 2027.
Meet all Cal Poly student assistant employment eligibility requirements. 
Attend bi-weekly Poly Reps group meetings (typically held every other Tuesday at 7:00 am, but exceptions may be made for class schedule). 
Respond appropriately, professionally and positively during all visitor and community interactions (training will be provided). 
Contribute to a respectful and inclusive environment for all visitors, peers, staff and leadership. 
Ability to work well in a collaborative student team environment on a variety of tasks and projects. 

Must continually follow all Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities (OSRR) policies for student code of conduct and not have any previous or active student discipline cases on record 

Open to all majors and grade levels. 

 

Although hard work and commitment are required, much of the individual participation in activities can be worked around the Poly Rep’s class and study schedule. 

New Poly Reps summer 2025 and on will be hired as an hourly paid ambassador position and student employee.
