What we do:
- Give campus tours and presentations to prospective students and their parents, alumni and special visitors
- Make presentations about Cal Poly at high schools and community colleges
- Serve on panels discussing student life at Cal Poly for counselors, parents, teachers, students, and alumni
- Represent Cal Poly as hosts or resource persons at campus public relations events
- Attend biweekly meetings and tri-annual training retreats
- Inform current Cal Poly students about alumni participation after graduation and the benefits of the Cal Poly National Alumni Association
- Enjoy special events for members such as the new member celebration, the fall retreat, district and national conventions, holiday parties, all-ambassador events, annual End-of-the-Year Banquet, etc.
What does it take to be a POLY REP?
- Dedication to the group and a minimum time commitment of 10-15 hours per month.
- Sincere desire to represent Cal Poly (POLY REPS bleed green and gold)
- Ability to work well with others
- Effective speaking ability
- Ability to make a positive first impression
- Ability to adapt to a variety of situations
- Cross-section of Cal Poly student body (major/college, ethnicity, gender)
- Knowledge of the university
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average; full-time student status; a minimum of one quarter completed at Cal Poly with at least one year of coursework remaining at time of application
